The Daily Post Topic#212 asked what I would do if I could spend a day doing anything I wanted.
Well, for those of you who don’t know, I have a BA in Professional Writing and my long-term goal is to become an editor. So if I could, I would spend a day shadowing an editor to see what he/she does on a daily basis and to get advice on how to make my long-term dream come true.
I took an editing class at college, and this is where my love of editing began. The joy I got from learning how to fix mistakes and learning how to make papers/documents/articles sound better is one I can not even begin to explain.
I told a few of my college friends of my new found love, and they let me edit their papers for their classes, and got better grades as a result. This caused my friends to be happier and brought me even more joy because of the praises and compliments I was getting from them.
Therefore, if I can get paid to edit, and bring other people joy as a result, I would feel more accomplished.
Now, all I need to do is find a way to get my foot in the door. After all, you do get where you want to be in life by achieving your goals. The only way for me to do that is to follow my dreams and never give up. I won’t stop trying until my goal is reached, no matter how hard it may be. My hard work and perseverance will pay off in the long run, I can feel it now 🙂
